To chronical tech stuff that Supportus Maximus is up to and share information about all sorts of experiences in the world of Tech.

Drupal and Leopard

The blog portion of the Supportus Maximus site is now being done using the Drupal content management system. I first heard about Drupal on This Week in Tech. They use Drupal for their site and I figured since they like it it must be good. Since then I've gotten into the nuts and bolts of it by reading the site at http://www.drupal.org favicon and it seems very good.

I'm setting up some client websites using Drupal so we'll really put it to the test in the future. I'll report back as I go along.

New Leopard OS X

October 26th Leopard is coming out for the Mac. I watched the video demo and it looks pretty good. I think there are a lot of useful features there.

The finder is definitely improved and I think that it will probably very useful. Time Machine is very much appreciated because Macs never really had a good backup solution for everyone.

The one thing that I don't think people will use very much is called spaces. It allows you to swich between different screens where you keep separate workspaces. It's one of those things that looks cool, but you don't end up really using.

iPhone Bricking and Apple PR

There's a lot of talk lately about iPhone hacking. It seems that people hacked their iPhones for various reasons, mainly for third-party applications that are available to a hacked phone, but also to use a different wireless phone provider.

With the latest update from Apple, these hacked phone users were warned by Apple that this update might render their phone inoperable. The popular term is "brick" your iPhone, meaning turn it into a "brick" or "paperweight" instead of a phone.

Deauthorize iTunes on your computer, even if it doesn't exist!

I have run across this problem more than once so I thought it was worth a mention here.

You can only authorize 5 computers to play songs you've bought from iTunes. What if one of the computers dies, or you wipe the computer and sell it to someone, but you forgot to deauthorize it before you did so?

SMTP Server Settings for wireless phones

I got these from the Palm desktop site. They may be a little old but I think you may find it useful if you're trying to set up email on a phone.
